Faculty and Staff Spotlight: Joyce Lee
Since 2014 Joyce Lee, MD, MPH, has served as the University of Michigan, C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital Pediatric Clinic site lead with the national T1D Exchange Quality Improvement Collaborative (T1DX-QI). The Collaborative brings together 54 adult and pediatric diabetes clinics across the US treating more than 100,000 individuals with type 1 diabetes. Top experts in diabetes care make up the Collaborative with the underlying mission to refine best practices and improve the quality of care and outcomes for individuals living with type 1 diabetes. Dr. Lee serves as a co-chair of the data science committee for the T1DX-QI, which leverages her informatics expertise to support data governance and standardize Electronic Health Record workflows to increase data quality and reduce provider documentation burden. A recent publication by Lee, et al: Feasibility of Electronic Health Record Assessment of 6 Pediatric Type 1 Diabetes Self-management Habits and Their Association With Glycemic Outcomes is work that originated within the T1DX-QI and describes the electronic health record workflow developed at the University of Michigan pediatric diabetes clinic to record six habits at the point of care that are positively correlated with key outcomes in diabetes including HbA1c.
