CHEAR Hosts Undergraduate Students for Summer Research Program
Once again, CHEAR hosted undergraduate students for its annual CHEAR Summer Internship (CSI) Program. CSI is designed for undergraduate students who have an interest in health disparities and health services research. Three students completed the CSI Program this year. We are so proud of all the amazing work they accomplished in the span of a 10-week program. Here are some highlights from the program:
Anita Sejdiu evaluated data from a multi-center cohort of children with Crohn’s disease to identify the implications of abnormal blood tests in children who are otherwise asymptomatic. She has been hired as a Research Assistant on Dr. Adler's team.
Morenikeji Ojubanire examined the potential for inequities resulting from variation in the prescribing weight loss mediations for children and teens by clinicians. She has been hired as a Research Assistant on Dr. Freed's team.
Sarah Mekhaldi and Shriya Das worked together with Pediatric Cardiology faculty pursuing work to uncover and to reduce disparities in care and had opportunity to learn about clinical research approaches, congenital heart disease, and tools pertinent to research related to disparities.
