In 2018, Susan and Paul Meister committed a transformative endowment to advance the health and well-being of children, adolescents, and families through research and education at the University of Michigan.
The Child Health Evaluation and Research (CHEAR) Center has been renamed the “Susan B. Meister Child Health Evaluation and Research Center” to honor Dr. Susan Meister who has dedicated her career to clinical research and pediatric health care policy.
Their gift will provide funding to:
- recruit and retain highly regarded innovators to bolster one of the largest and most interdisciplinary groups of academic researchers in the country studying how to improve child health
- help launch a training program for postdoctoral fellows holding an M.D. or Ph.D.
- provide seed funding for young researchers whose work focuses on improving the delivery of child health care to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of public and private health care programs
- support Center operations
The Michigan Medicine announcement of the Meister’s gift provides additional information related to this generous donation and their ongoing commitment to health services research and support more generally at the University of Michigan.
